Words about our weddings

Celebrate your wedding reception in one of South Kensington's most beautiful venues - Victoria and Albert Museum - with its stunning architecture, luxurious decor, and famous works of art and design.

Celebrate your wedding day surrounded by friends, family, and world-famous works of art spanning centuries at Victoria and Albert Museum London. The ‘world’s greatest museum of applied and decorative art and design’ is available for after-hours wedding receptions and dinners and is one of the most magical, intriguing wedding venues in South Kensington.

Queen Victoria and Prince Albert are oft-quoted as the most famously in love of the royal couples. So where better to celebrate your wedding day than the very museum that’s named after them, Victoria and Albert Museum London. In the picturesque South Kensington, the V&A is a sight to behold: a large, majestic building of classical and decorative architecture, dating to the 1850s, with marble, elaborate tiling, and stained-glass windows. Inside, fashion, jewellery, art, photography, and design fill the rooms and galleries, creating a unique setting for any wedding.

Couples can choose between nine different venues within the museum, from grand rooms to galleries, and an outdoor space – or combine a few to experience different areas of this striking location.

With a dedicated wedding manager and a choice of approved caterers – including Asian and Kosher options – you can put your own personal twist on one of London’s most iconic venues.

There are four unusual wedding ceremony spaces at the Victoria and Albert Museum, all licensed and each offering a unique backdrop. Ceremonies are booked through the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.

A favourite backdrop for its golden grandeur is the gilded Spanish altarpiece that’s staged in The Raphael Court, a dome-like space with exquisite sixteenth-century art on permanent loan from Her Majesty the Queen.

For an outdoor ceremony, the secluded courtyard of the John Madejski Garden sets an atmosphere that’s elegant and intimate. Follow your ceremony here with outdoor cocktails on a beautiful day.

With multiple venues inside Victoria and Albert Museum as well as one outdoor venue, couples can have their choice of where they hold their reception. The Dome is a large, stunning space with marble floors and a central glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly that creates an impressive backdrop. To be surrounded by famous artworks while you celebrate your nuptials, consider the grand Dorothy and Michael Hintze Sculpture Galleries or the Raphael Gallery. Outdoor celebrations can be held in the elegant John Madejski Garden, which is particularly beautiful when lit up at night.

Couples can hire a few venues for their wedding reception – consider drinks in the John Majeski Garden, followed by dinner in the Raphael Gallery and dancing in the Dome to make the most of this entire venue. For dinner, there’s no in-house catering but couples can choose from a list of approved suppliers.
