If you’re after a rustic, waterfront wedding venue not far from Sydney’s CBD, you’re going to be delighted by Zest Boathouse at the Spit Mosman.

This warm, charming function venue really has it all: Award-winning catering? Yep. In-house styling? Of course. Flexible wedding packages? You betcha.

With uninterrupted Bay views, a dedicated events team and a stylish reception space, this contemporary venue is an ideal harbourside wedding location.

The Scene at Zest Boathouse at the Spit Mosman

Zest Boathouse at the Spit is located on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, specifically, in the delightful and scenic suburb of Mosman. This affluent pocket of Sydney is known for its clear blue water, beautiful beaches and chic boutiques, with visitors and locals alike frequenting the waterside restaurants and charming bistros in the area.

Zest Boathouse at the Spit holds its own in this opulent suburb, offering first-class function spaces and premium customer service. After all, it’s got a reputation to protect; this stunning event venue is part of the Zest Waterfront Venues chain, and has an award-winning sister venue in Point Piper.

The venue itself is situated within the Middle Harbour 16ft Skiff Club, on the waterfront, and is a formal function venue. Its interior design is a combination of elegance and rustic charm, and is formal without feeling stuffy — ‘relaxed splendour’ is how it has eloquently been described.

Despite its luxurious finishings, the atmosphere is relaxed, warm and merry — the sea breeze will do that to you, with the venue’s outdoor terrace providing a perfect space for sunny afternoon drinks. A more formal indoor space is available for weddings, and floor-to-ceiling windows allow for extensive, elevated views of Clontarf Beach and Sandy Bay

Flanked by Middle Harbour Yacht Club Marina and Spit West Reserve, this modern venue is an excellent find for couples looking for a relaxed, beautiful wedding location not far from central Sydney.

Zest Boathouse at the Spit Mosman Wedding Ceremonies

Couples will have some difficult decisions to make when it comes to planning their wedding ceremony, but the first big choice is: Indoors or out? There are a handful of both indoor and outdoor locations to choose from on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, from formal churches to outdoor reserves.

Zest Boathouse at the Spit offers a charming indoor wedding ceremony option — right on their stylish, elevated terrace, overlooking Clontarf Beach, Clontarf Marina and Sandy Bay. This spot is beautiful and convenient; the venue lends a warm, romantic atmosphere, but the real highlight is that your guests won’t need to travel between the ceremony and reception, which is ideal if you have some elderly guests or — touch wood — wet weather on your wedding day.

Alternatively, there is a beautiful outdoor option located just a stone’s throw away from Zest Boathouse — right across the road from the venue. Spit West Reserve is a public area with a large manicured lawn, lots of native trees and sea views. If a ceremony venue with fresh air, lots of natural light and plenty of room is important to you, this quiet reserve is an excellent choice.

If you’d prefer a different indoor ceremony location nearby, you might like the Mosman Art Gallery. This unique, contemporary ceremony space is a mere five-minute drive from Zest Boathouse at the Spit, giving your guests a fun, memorable spot to watch you marry your beloved. Once you have married, your guests can peruse the paintings, collections and exhibitions while you take your wedding photographs. Win, win.

For more religious couples, Sacred Heart Catholic Church is a ten-minute journey away. If you’ve ever hoped for a traditional ceremony, where one partner enters the church, walks down the red-carpeted aisle, past the pews and towards their teary, expectant fiance, then Sacred Heart Catholic Church might be for you. This classic location is architecturally gorgeous, and is ideal for formal ceremonies.

If you’d prefer a formal, sit-down dinner — in either a sharing plate or three-course meal fashion. Imagine plates of tasty dishes, including lamb rump with kumara puree or roasted blue-eye with herb ricotta gnocchi served to your guests.

Later, they’ll retreat to the marble effect dancefloor. Your loved ones can dance the night away and take advantage of the fully-stocked bar or whiskey station before the wedding concludes in the wee hours (there’s a 24-hour license).

Venue Testimonials

Absolutely exceptional! We couldn’t be happier with both the process and the final outcome. Everything was seamless, from start to finish. This was particularly evident when we had to move our wedding date due to Covid-19. Importantly, Maree did an outstanding job with communicating with us and acting professionally throughout the entire process! Maree acted promptly and was a pleasure to work with. Overall, our guests had a great time and enjoyed the wonderful food and beverages. Thank you!

Tinashe W

Absolutely amazing venue for our wedding. Maree was great leading up to the wedding. Sean was lovely - making sure we were well fed and everything was running smoothly on the night. Food was amazing, venue looked spectacular with our minimal adornments. Food stations superb. Wish friends would have their wedding here so we can enjoy more of the food. Loved it.

Alison W

The team at Zest were delightful to work with - the in-house decorations and mood lighting package (all inclusive!) were absolutely gorgeous and made it so much easier not having to hire a separate decorator for the venue! The food was excellent and the service on the night was warm and attentive to everyone, with plentiful drinks and canapés flowing through during entree/dessert canapés. Special thank you to everyone at the team for making our day just the way we had imagined it to be!
