Pier One Sydney(3 Reviews) ·
11, Hickson Road, Sydney, New South Wales, 2000, Australia
Some of the Harbour City’s most iconic sights are within striking distance, from the Opera House to The Rocks historic neighbourhood, the Royal Botanic Garden and, of course, the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
One of the venue’s principal charms is its drawing together of the indoors and outdoors: capitalising on the prime water’s edge location, each event space at Pier One Sydney features access to the hotel’s pier.
The hotel has a contemporary character with a minimalist design. Natural materials, such as timber and marble, adorn many of the hotel’s spaces. The glass-fronted, double-height lobby is a standout feature, and sets the tone for the rest of the hotel. But despite the broadly modern feel, elements of this historic building’s heritage are laced throughout, from exposed wooden beams to original steel framing.
Wedding Ceremonies at Pier One Sydney
You can choose from four plum spots to say your vows at Pier One Sydney. Host your ceremony outside in the Sydney sunshine, either on the Pier or under the Bridge Marquee; the former has a cosy and intimate feel, while the latter is slightly grander in its style and proportions. Both unique spaces lend a relaxed garden wedding feel, thanks to the privacy afforded, and the folding garden chairs used by guests during the ceremony. The Pier even features an artificial lawn. Those desperate for an outdoor wedding but fearful of the possibility of bad weather needn’t fret – in the event of rain an alternate indoor space will be allocated to couples who have booked a Pier ceremony.
Couples who would rather tie the knot inside can opt for one of the hotel’s two indoor function rooms, both awash with lashings of natural light thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. There’s the smaller and more snug Dawes Point Room, and the Water Room, which features double-height ceilings and a wider, more square space. Both rooms are pared back in their design, offering plenty of styling potential, whatever look you’re aiming for on the big day.
Wedding Receptions at Pier One Sydney
There are several very different venue spaces available for a wedding reception at Pier One Sydney. The Water Room, with its tall ceilings and wider space, is perfect for larger weddings, accommodating up to 350 guests. Because of its size, the event space also lends a more grand feel. Moreover, the Water Room offers impressive views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The Dawes Point Room, on the other hand, is cosier and longer, hosting up to 250. Compared to the Water Room, it has a more casual and relaxed feel because of its proportions. The Dawes Point Room is, however, the hotel’s most versatile space – it can be subdivided to cater to the length of your guest list.
The most unique option of all at Pier One Sydney is the Bridge Marquee, which hosts up to 150 guests. The Sydney Harbour Bridge towers over this see-through perspex marquee, which is truly a blank canvas for your seated or cocktail style reception. It joins onto the small indoor Bridge Room.
If you’re more interested in the idea of a lunchtime do, Pier One Sydney can cater to that too, hosting your guests in either the Dawes Point Room or the Water Room.

Pier One Sydney Catering
Capitalising on fresh, seasonal, local produce is at the heart of Pier One Sydney’s catering operations, so much so that the menu at hatted onsite restaurant The Gantry changes twice a month, and the restaurant works directly with farmers to ensure the highest quality.

Great and easy to work with, they gave us a comprehensive planning form and recommended suppliers and it made the whole thing super easy. The food was great and the view is just phenomenal. We even got free decorations as the next wedding's ceiling decorations were bumped in already!

They were amazing, they just kept sending up wine and their service was so great! They even wrote out hand-written congratulation notes and would always ask if there was anything else they could do! They even put our hairdresser next to us even thought they were booked at different times which was so kind and helpful too!

Fabulous venue. The Bridge Marque is magical at night with the fairy lights - even though it was raining. The venue was so easy to deal with. The only challenge was out wedding planner not being available to us as planned in the few hours before the wedding, so a couple of things got missed and were done stressfully last minute. The food was inconsistent in quality. Aside from that, it was great.
