Getting people to leave their laptops and attend an event in person means giving them something worth showing up for. At One Moorgate Place, that starts with a setting that would be best experienced in person.
Historic architecture gives the venue plenty of character, from the stained glass and domed ceiling of the Main Reception Room to the Members’ Room and its own take on Venice’s Rialto Bridge. But behind the history is a versatile corporate venue designed for conferences, meetings, networking and everything that happens around them.
We caught up with the One Moorgate Place team to talk about what makes an event worth attending, the features hidden throughout the venue and why attention to detail is king.
If your venue had a personality, how would you describe it in three words?
Elegant, welcoming, attentive
What’s one feature or space in your venue that always wows corporate clients?
The Main Reception Room is one of our most breathtaking spaces. With its high,
domed ceilings, magnificent chandelier, intricate wall murals and beautiful stained-glass windows, it’s a room that speaks for itself.
It’s also incredibly versatile, hosting everything from networking events and drinks
receptions to exhibitions, workshops, breakout spaces and welcome areas. It’s this
combination of striking architecture and flexibility that makes it a space that never fails to impress.
What’s your dream corporate event to host, and why?
An all-day event that allows delegates to experience the different spaces at One
Moorgate Place throughout the day, with each setting offering something different.
Moving seamlessly from one space to another can create a much more varied and
engaging experience for guests, from meetings and presentations to networking, dining and drinks, while giving the organiser the flexibility to create an event that feels thoughtfully planned from start to finish.
What sets your venue apart from others in the corporate world?
It’s the combination of character, versatility and exceptional service. Our spaces
have a distinctive sense of history and architectural charm, while offering the flexibility to accommodate a wide range of corporate events and formats.
Our bespoke packages are complemented by Searcys’ exceptional catering, giving
clients the flexibility to create an experience that works for their event, rather than having to fit their event around a set offering.
Most importantly, our team works closely with each client to understand what they want to achieve and bring those details together into a seamless event.
What’s your “hidden gem” feature that people might overlook?
The Members’ Room is one of our most historic spaces, and its centerpiece is a
remarkable bridge inspired by Venice’s Rialto Bridge. While the bridge is undoubtedly the room’s most striking feature, there’s plenty more to discover.
The room houses historic books and reports from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, alongside a collection of fascinating artefacts. It’s a space where the venue’s heritage really comes to life, and one that guests often enjoy discovering for themselves.
How does your team make every event extra special?
It comes down to attention to detail, both in the planning and on the day itself. Our
dedicated event managers work closely with clients throughout the planning process to understand their requirements and make sure every element is considered, from the overall flow of the event to the finer details.
How does your team ensure every corporate event runs smoothly?
On the day, our team is there to coordinate everything behind the scenes, allowing the client to focus on their guests and the event itself. It’s that combination of careful planning, personal service and attention to the finer details that helps us create an experience that feels seamless from start to finish.
What type of corporate events does your venue attract most?
Being home to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), we have a strong connection with the finance and professional services sectors, and regularly welcome corporate events from these industries.
Our spaces are also well suited to a wide variety of events, from conferences and
meetings to networking events, receptions and workshops, attracting clients from a
broad range of sectors.
What corporate event trends are you noticing, and how is your venue adapting to them?
We’re seeing a real shift towards quality over quantity, with greater emphasis on the overall experience and value of an event rather than simply bringing people into a room.
With delegates increasingly balancing work with busy lives and, in many cases, working remotely, there’s a greater need to give people a genuine reason to attend in person.
Events need to offer something memorable, whether that’s through the setting, food and drink, content or opportunities to connect with others.
At One Moorgate Place, we focus on creating experiences that feel worthwhile for
delegates and give them something they wouldn’t get from simply joining a meeting from home.
Finally, what’s your go-to song for hyping up before a big event?
‘On Top of the World’ by Imagine Dragons
One Moorgate Place makes a strong case for corporate events that give people more than a reason to turn up. Its historic rooms bring character to the day, while flexible spaces allow organisers to change the setting for presentations, workshops, networking and dining as the agenda develops.
Add attentive event management and bespoke packages supported by Searcys catering, and there’s plenty here for planners looking to make the trip into the City worthwhile. Even the pre-event playlist is appropriately optimistic.
